Guest Post from Nourish Juice Cafe: Juicing vs. Blending

Fresh fruits and vegetables can play an important role in keeping your heart healthy. This summer, we are excited to introduce Kathleen from Nourish Juice Cafe as a guest blogger. Kathleen will be sharing her best tips on juicing, maintaining a healthy diet, and more.

Fruits and vegetables are an essential part of managing conditions such as obesity, hypertension, or high cholesterol. Juicing and blending can be part of any health and wellness program but don’t get the two confused – each comes with their own unique health benefits. How much do you know about these trends?

Blending fruits and vegetables into a smoothie or drink can slow the absorption of nutrients and sugars that enter the bloodstream, so you’ll feel full for longer. Blending is good for those who do not get enough fiber.

On the other hand, juicing extracts the fiber from fruits and vegetables, so your digestive system does not work as hard to absorb the nutrients. Since a large amount of produce is used in juicing, a high volume of vitamins, minerals and nutrients are absorbed quickly and are more readily available to the body. Many people experience an immediate sense of well-being when drinking a juice.

A blender works best for fruits, although some greens can also be blended for additional nutrition. A juicer works for nearly all fruits and vegetables, allowing more nutrient-rich possibilities for drink combinations.

Of course, all fruits and vegetables are heart healthy but oranges, lemons, blueberries, carrots spinach, celery, beets, cucumbers, & leafy greens are particularly good for your health.
