Tomas Rivera-Bonilla, MD

Dr. Tomas Rivera-Bonilla was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, and then went on to obtain a post-baccalaureate at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda. After completing medical school at Ross University School of Medicine, he moved to Arizona and performed his Internship and Residency at the University of Arizona, Phoenix Campus. He also served as a Chief Medical Resident, in addition to completing further subspecialty training in both General and Interventional cardiology fellowships.

Dr. Rivera-Bonilla holds board certifications in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). In addition, he is also certified in Adult Echocardiography by the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), Nuclear Cardiology by the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) and also in Vascular Interpretation by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). He is well published in various scientific journals and participates in scientific abstracts at various cardiology societies including the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Rivera-Bonilla is multilingual and fluent in Spanish. He is passionate about treating the under-served populations in his community. In particular, he is devoted to the Hispanic community, for which he volunteers his free time. When he is not working, he enjoys golfing, swimming, running and fishing. He is particularly fond of salsa dancing.
